The Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival Hits SE False Creek This Weekend
A False Creek original, and one of the biggest Dragon Boat Festivals in the world, hits the waters of False Creek this weekend and for the first time ever the Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival moves into Southeast False Creek and the Olympic Village. The Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival draws 180 teams and over 100,000 people to the shores of False Creek. The festivities kick off Friday at 2pm with the Eye Dotting Ceremony and really get going from 8am to 6pm Saturday and Sunday.
There will be great entertainment on the World Beat Stage from 11am Saturday and Sunday, great food at the Silk Road Festival, a Kids Zone, the Granville Island Brewery Beer Garden (!), and so much more.
Admission is FREE!!! Don’t miss out. There will be extra parking made available, but I would recommend cycling, walking or taking transit (the Canada Line and Skytrain stop nearby).
