Outdoor Movies Come to Southeast False Creek for Halloween
I just heard about this, but it sounds fantastic and the first one is TONIGHT! It is the Halloween Drive-in in Southeast False Creek. They are showing Gremlins outside at 200 West 1st Avenue at 7pm tonight(the vacant land east of the Cambie St. Bridge and west of the Olympic Village and Hinge Park). This the same site that was used for Cirque de Soleil’s Cavalia.
Tonight is Freaky Friday and they are showing Gremlins on the 4 story inflatable screen. Tomorrow, Saturday, it is Scare-a-thon Saturday and Beetlejuice will be on the big screen (also at 7pm).
They really want you to walk or bike in so they are charging $20 for parking, but it is free if you walk or bike in. It is so close to the seawall and the Olympic Village Canada Line Station, I don’t know why you wouldn’t walk or bike. Then again it might be worth $20 if you could be warm in your car (remember no idling allowed though). They are not clear if you will be able to watch from your car, but they call it a “drive-in” so I would guess you can.
The best way to confirm is to call the info line at 604-484-5531. You can buy tickets by calling 1-888-222-6608 or you can also buy tickets on their website.
