Canvas By Onni Launches Saturday in Southeast False Creek
Canvas By Onni Group Grand Opening April 12th
Onni Group is launching sales at Canvas, their latest development tomorrow, Saturday April 12th at their presentation centre at 1405 Main Street. Now, calling this Southeast False Creek is a bit of a stretch. I really feel that the area’s eastern boundary is Main Street, but they are stretching it a couple of blocks further east. The project, which will contain 209 suites will be located on the northwest side of Great Northern Way at Prince Edward Street, with an address of 396 East First Ave. It is the only site that presently has permission for residential development in the False Creek Flats.
Canvas will comprise two buildings separated by a courtyard. I narrower building on West 1st will feature suite will windows on the front and back sides, while there will be a larger building on the Great Northern Way side.
The homes are designed to function as artists’ live-work spaces. There will be over- sized windows and commercial-grade engineered white oak floors. Amenities will include an a fitness centre, a common courtyard, an artists’ work space, and a party room, with a kitchen, that can be used as a gallery as well as for other events
Top-floor homes’ will feature private roof decks, ranging from 300 to 600 square feet. All the homes will have balconies or spacious patios for ground floor units. On the north side all homes, even those on the main floor will have fantastic mountain and city views.
This False Creek Flats area is already home to a number of prominent art galleries, and The Centre for Digital Media. Soon it will also be home to the main Emily Carr University of Art + Design campus, and Mountain Equipment Co-ops main office. Future development could include a station on a new rapid transit line to UBC, and a pedestrian bridge across the train tracks toward Strathcona.
